Nothing, at all.

For a non-monthly service game, Anet does a decent job, but fails to communicate well to its fanbase. This is apparent. And because it is apparent, people complain and from complaints come dislike.
They actually announced it fairly early (as in: earlier than they should have). They weren't even doing graphics design on it til EotN came out. They aren't Blizzard where they work on SC2 since WC3 or Diablo 3 since D2 and never reveal it for 8 years and then OH BTW...

well i am not going to read this hole thread because its 6 pages long. but the biggest reason why people want things and then dont like how anet response is because anet sees are ideas and then for most of them not all implements them in the worst way possible.

You can't prepare for every team, which is why skilled people run balanced. It tries to prepare for as many teams as possible without gimping yourself. Each of the 4 classes were terribad, I shouldn't have to explain why, but I will.

The classes don't have their own roles, they play off previous existing roles. A Warrior already does more damage than a Sin in an adrenal spike, so why would you take a Sin over a War in an 8v8 environment? Gimmicks.
How is having the signet-mesmer bring [Signet of Disenchantment] gimping the build? Seems like it has more uses outside of just killing SF users.

Regardless of SF though, I will acknowledge that over the course of the game there have been various things that have been overpowered (the DA builds used in sinsplits for example). Those required changes.

Sadly, the majority of the COMMUNITY screamed "nerf deadly paradox!" which Izzy did... 4 times. If the community hadn't be so up in arms over it, and Izzy actually had time, he might've not nerfed that one skill four times, but balanced the build as a whole (LOL! I know I know, it's Izzy, he would never do that) so that other builds that used those skills wouldn't be so badly affected.

What I'm trying to get at is that over my course of playing multiple MMOs (L2, RO, WoW, CoH, etc, etc) I have seen one consistent thing... the vocal community, for the most part, is stupid.

Now hear me out... when there are obvious problems and bugs within the game (regardless of game), the community in general has almost always been more adamant about getting a new hat, or having the devs put in assless leather chaps for their character, or whatever retarded thing it is this week.

And since this is a customer service business, and some PR douchebag is calling the shots usually, these end up getting put in, taking away from the time that could otherwise be spent fixing bugs and whatnot. It hasn't gotten THAT bad yet in GW, but from other games I've played, it's terrible. And I fear that if the community doesn't stop begging for stupid shit, eventually it's going to be monks and warriors running around in baseball hats and shooting people with guns.

Yeah, yeah, you keep saying that, and your implication that said players are the old PvPers who, as you mentioned, are *gone*. And the game still goes on. Because the game has changed. There are more (probably several orders of magnitude more) PvE players than PvP now. That's why the game survives without your gods.

Doing things your way ruins the game for those who don't want to play it your way. And we outnumber you.

If the other ones don't post on a forum or a community site, how are we going to know what they want? That's down to the people who understand the game the most and understand what you need to do to improve on it.

Except "improvement" is subjective.

For many, changing favor from being tied to pvp to being tied to pve is seen as an improvement (including myself). For others, it cut into the reasons for playing HA. Same with the skill split (though I don't understand the logic of the PvPers that it is bad. They get to play with the same skills), Shadow Form (Sin players, yes, even non-farming ones, vs Ecto hoarders), Ursan-players vs Ursan-haters,etc...

For crying out loud, people were even bitching about the HoM going account-wide! No matter WHAT changes get made, SOMEONE is going to dislike it. That's the nature of beasts.

The only ones who "Understand" the game are the devs and those with access to the source code. Everyone else understands their own vision of the game, and will push for the game to become that even to others' detriment.
